Maidan Nezalezhnosti, or Independence Square, is a public square located in the center of Kyiv, Ukraine. The square was first established in the late 19th century, and has since become a major gathering place for political events and protests. It was the site of the 2014 Euromaidan Revolution, which saw the overthrow of the government of then-President Viktor Yanukovych. Since then, the square has become a symbol of the struggle for a more democratic Ukraine.
